We didn’t start Not Basics because we love fashion - we started it because we hated most clothes. So often basics are made from plastic-heavy synthetics that trap heat, irritate your skin, and fall apart after a few wears. We wanted something better — so we made it ourselves.

We struggled to find clothes that weren’t made from high quantities of synthetic fibres like polyester, nylon or polyamide – aka plastic. These materials trap heat and moisture, and can easily irritate sensitive skin.
So we created Not Basics: skin-friendly staples made from breathable organic cotton, thoughtfully designed for comfort, skin health and all-day wear.
