It's been a busy few weeks — let's catch up

Hey everyone, Amanda here.
I'm writing this from my living room, curtains drawn, fan blasting and an icepack on my head. If you're in the UK you'll know exactly what I mean.
Weirdly though, this week I've been the most productive I've been all month? Classic me - always thriving in the conditions I'm least supposed to. Give me chaos and an impossible deadline and I'll hand you my best work.
Anyway. There's a lot to catch you up on, so let's get into it.
From July, all new styles in our Second Skin and Sweats ranges will carry full GOTS certification - the Global Organic Textile Standard, which is the most rigorous textile certification in the world. And I mean the whole supply chain. Not just the cotton, but every single stage — farming, processing, dyeing, finishing. Every step.
The reason this matters: GOTS completely bans endocrine disruptors, heavy metals, formaldehyde, toxic solvents, fluorocarbons (PFAS), and carcinogenic dyes from the entire process. So when we say what touches your skin is safe - we can now prove it at every stage, not just ask you to take our word for it.
We've always believed this. Now we have the certification to back it up.
The new styles are here and my goodness you are loving them. We've already sold through 50% of the cami tops — which is equal parts wonderful and slightly panic-inducing. If you've been on the fence, this is your sign.
One thing we haven't gone into yet: the White Short and the Quarter Zip set are made from undyed fabric. No dyes, no chemicals — just the natural colour of the cotton exactly as it comes. For anyone with sensitive skin or anyone on a mission to reduce their chemical load, this one was made with you specifically in mind.
Honestly, I'd be doing myself a huge favour if I just followed my instincts. I very nearly developed a capris, but on a dark rainy January day I lost all confidence - writing it off as a fleeting trend. How wrong was I.
We've heard every single one of your requests. And, the organic cotton capris are now just two weeks away. We only have 40 pairs coming, as we didn't have enough fabric left over to do anymore. So if you're waiting on these, make sure you keep an eye out as we have more demand than stock.
And they are neither neutral or muted. We're giving you the bright, bold hues you asked for. Any guesses what they might be?
We've been working on our activewear for nearly a year. It's the most requested thing we've ever been asked for and also, genuinely, the hardest thing we've ever tried to make. Organic cotton that actually performs for movement. Minimising synthetics without sacrificing how it feels or functions. It's a real balance and we're not cutting corners.
In July we'll be entering wearer trials - and we're selecting 10 people from our community to test the pieces before we launch.
Here's what we'll ask if you're selected: wear them to work out in, run errands, live your life in them. Wash them. Then tell us everything - fit, feel during movement, how they hold up. What you love. What you'd change. Nothing is too small or too honest.
If you'd like to put your name forward, you can simply email us - hello@notbasics.co.uk
We'll be in touch in July!
They're here. Don't you love them? The only acceptable answer is yes.
All new styles will now come in our new garment bags — made from FSC certified, REACH tested and compliant, moisture-resistant, and durable paper. Practical, considered, and finally branded.
Here's something we've never really talked about: the reason our packaging hasn't been branded until now is cost. Every pound we put into packaging is a pound we're not putting into better fabrics, better certifications, better products. We've always made that call consciously - we'd rather make what you're wearing as good as it can possibly be and keep our prices fair, than spend on beautiful boxes that end up in the bin.
But we've reached a point where we could do both. And do it in a way that felt right - we hope you love them.
That's everything for now - told you it was a productive week!
As always, if you have questions or just want to say hello, we're at hello@notbasics.co.uk.
All our love,
Amanda & Katie xx
